Kakivik maintains its own staff of instructors and utilizes nationally recognized experts to augment our program in specialty disciplines. We provide instruction in the four core NDT methods: Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing. All ASNT required training is conducted in strict accordance with ASNT guiding document SNT-TC-1A.

Specialized training is provided in Automated UT, Electromagnetic Acoustical Transducers, Magnetic Flux Exclusion, corrosion film interpretation, and code film interpretation. We continually introduce new technology, insisting that our workforce refines its skill set and maintains a sharp focus on technological advances in the industry.

We invest in progressive training and certifications for our teams of advanced technicians and inspectors. These nationally recognized certification programs include the American Petroleum Institute, American Welding Society, NACE International (formerly known as the National Association of Corrosion Engineers), the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, and the American Concrete Institute.

On March 17, 2009 Kakivik’s training program was registered with the United States Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, receiving the first Certificate of Registration of Apprenticeship Program in the nation for Nondestructive Testing.

Kakivik was also instrumental in the development of an intensive Nondestructive Testing Technician Instructional Program in partnership with the University of Alaska. This collaborative effort between industry and the academic community was initiated in recognition of the nationwide shortage of qualified NDT technicians. Kakivik contributed to development of the classroom based curriculum, assists with student recruitment, and as an industry partner provides field based practical experience for successful candidates for Level I NDT certification.
