Kakivik technicians, holding multiple certifications in inspection and NDT techniques, perform a vast array of services for ports and marine terminals during construction, maintenance, and repairs and upgrades.
Provided field implementation and oversight of corrosion management programs.
Developed internal corrosion investigations on firewater piping, determining extent of corrosion damage and degree of coating failure. Development of initial repair criteria and methods. Investigations have included internal video inspections and removal and inspection of system valves.
Development of Procedures
Developed evaluation procedures for oily water waste sewer systems (industrial wastewater sewers). Developed test methods and criteria.
Conducted comprehensive feasibility studies for recoating of crude oil loading berths. Studies involved all aspects of corrosion and coating evaluation, identification and testing of candidate materials, development of corrosion rate test programs, and development of economic life-cycle cost analyses.
Evaluation of Repair Methodology
Conducted an evaluation of repair methods for ballast water piping. Work included development of internal coating alternatives, life-cycle cost analyses for various repair options, and comparison of internal coatings with corrosion resistant alloys and non-metallic pipe materials.
